Our Community Partners

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

The Greater Los Angeles and Central Coast Chapter, in alignment with the mission of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. Through the collective efforts of our passionate staff, volunteers, advocates and community partners, we work to create a culture that supports mental health, fosters connection, and promotes understanding.

Our grassroots efforts focus on reducing the loss of life from suicide by delivering evidence-based prevention and education programs, raising awareness about mental health and suicide risk, and empowering individuals with the knowledge and resources needed to seek help and support others. We engage communities across the Greater Los Angeles and Central Coast regions through outreach, advocacy, fundraising, and public awareness initiatives that inspire action and reduce stigma surrounding mental health challenges.

We are committed to advancing suicide prevention through investment in critical research, supporting public policies that improve access to mental health care, and expanding programs that strengthen resilience and foster hope. We also provide compassionate support and healing opportunities for those who have lost a loved one to suicide, ensuring that no one has to navigate grief alone.

Together, we strive to build a future where mental health is prioritized, every individual feels valued and connected, and suicide can be prevented through education, advocacy, research, and community engagement.

Reins of Hope

EQUINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY

Individuals or groups of individuals who pursue ROH services for Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) may have a variety of challenges they are facing such as relationship issues, depression, anxiety, anger, trauma and substance abuse.

These individuals will have the support of ROH expert mental health professionals to find relief from psychological pain, healthy coping skills and movement toward restoring mental health.

All exercises are conducted on the ground and involve interacting with horses through a variety of activities. No horse experience is necessary. The horses’ direct and non-judgmental feedback allows clients to identify unproductive patterns, connect with strengths, and create change in the moment. This experiential work is generally considered a short-term modality due to its intensity and effectiveness.
